Ready for the cutest, easy ice cream craft your kids will want to make again and again?
You’re in the right place! All you need is a printer, my free PDF printable template, scissors, and glue. It really doesn’t get any simpler than that.
Kids can build their own ice cream craft by choosing their favorite ice cream style, mixing and matching fun toppings, and putting the pieces together however they’d like.

This ice cream craft is perfect for kindergarteners and elementary-aged kids, but preschoolers can join in, too, with a little extra help cutting and assembling the smaller pieces.
Tools & Materials
- Printer
- Template (download at the end of the article – no subscription required)
- White cardstock
- Black marker (optional)
- Beads, googly eyes (optional)
- Scissors
- Glue

Step 1 – Print Ice Cream Craft Template
I wanted to give you and your kids lots of options, so here are five different easy ice cream craft designs to choose from. Each one includes a color version (just like the one I printed) as well as a coloring page version, perfect for kids who want to create their own ice cream flavors!
- Classic (single or double scoop) ice cream cone
- Banana split
- Soft serve cone
- Triple scoop ice cream cone
- Ice cream sandwich

For this step-by-step tutorial, I’ll be using the classic double scoop ice cream template.
Don’t worry if you pick a different design — each printable template page includes a small preview image that shows exactly how the finished ice cream craft should look, making it super easy to follow.
Step 2 – Cut Template
Most of the ice cream craft pieces are easy to cut out, but younger kids may need a little extra help with the smaller details, such as the cherry, eyes, cheeks, and mouth pieces.
This template has three scoops. You can go with the plain ones without faces or use the ones with faces — some kids think the faces are super cute, but others (like my two boys) prefer them without.

Tip: Use a simple black marker for drawing the mouth directly on the ice cream craft instead.
Step 3 – Assemble Ice Cream
Now it’s time to build your own ice cream craft!

Keep the small preview picture close by while your kids are building the ice cream — it makes it easy to see exactly where each piece should go. It’s also a fun, low-key way for little ones to practice following directions and visual sequencing.

- Glue the pink ice cream scoop onto the waffle cone piece.
- Attach the blue scoop on top of the pink scoop to finish building the ice cream cone.
- Finish the craft by gluing on the chocolate drip, whipped cream, and cherry on top (pun intended).
And there you go — your ice cream craft is ready!

Other Easy Ice Cream Craft Ideas
If your kids want to keep crafting, try the other designs included in the free printable template! You’ll find a banana split, soft serve cone, triple scoop cone, and ice cream sandwich — plus the classic single or double scoop cone.
Each design has its own fun look and personality, so kids can mix and match to create all kinds of different ice cream characters.

Once they’re done, they can set up their own little ice cream shop and have a blast pretending to take orders and serve customers!
Don’t stop at the paper!
If you have the time and other craft supplies, let your kids go wild with extra craft supplies. Add real sprinkles, shiny beads, mini pom-poms, googly eyes, or even cotton balls for whipped cream to bring their ice cream creations to life!
